In the studio, the light works for you — not the other way around
Outdoors, the sun decides everything — when, where, how hard. In the studio, I decide. I can shape a soft window light for a calm, natural portrait, or a hard single bulb for something editorial and graphic. Nothing is left to chance and nothing depends on the forecast.
A studio session is also the most honest kind of portrait. There is no pretty street to carry the image, no sunset to do the heavy lifting. It is you, the light and the background — and when those three come together, the result is hard to beat.

Common worries
"Will a studio portrait look stiff and corporate?"
Only if we want it to. Studio light can be soft, warm and natural — I set the mood, not the room. Most of my studio work looks nothing like a corporate headshot.
"I am not comfortable in front of a camera in a studio"
A studio is actually calmer than a street — no passers-by, no weather, no rush. I guide every pose and we review frames together as we go.
"Do I need to bring my own clothes and makeup?"
You bring your outfits — I send a guide beforehand. For makeup, I can recommend trusted local MUAs if you would like professional styling.
Studio Photography
Studio portraits in Porto — where the light answers to you
I shoot in the studio when I want the light to do exactly what I ask of it. Outdoors I chase the sun; indoors I shape it. A soft window glow for a quiet, natural portrait, a single hard bulb for something editorial — the studio lets me choose, and that control shows in the frame.
Studio portraits are also the most reliable session I offer. Rain, wind, grey skies, short winter days — none of it matters. If you are booking in November or just want certainty on the day, the studio is where I would point you.
I use studio sessions for professional headshots, personal brand work and creative portraits that need a clean, consistent look. But a studio frame does not have to feel corporate — with the right light and a relaxed pace, it can feel as personal as anything shot on the street.
Write to me and we will plan the purpose, the light and the styling before the session, so the studio works for you instead of the other way around.
